My name is Sarah and I am a lone parent to Sophie who has a rare chronic disorder called CVS and Rory who has Autism.

I found Special Friends in June 2016 when I was moving into the area from Sheffield. I knew no one except family here and I was looking for a group of like-minded people who understood life with complex children and events that my children could attend without worry. 

​

I quickly realised how valuable Special Friends was and joined the committee meeting in Sep 2016. As my background is in policy and procedures, I was well placed to help Special Friends register as an official charity and now hold the roles of Trustee, Treasurer and Compliance Officer. I feel passionate about contributing to the ongoing success of a group I would be lost without!
